If a game doesnt live up to expectations for the gamer then it can be viewed as 'overhyped'
If a game doesnt live up to expectations in $/£ for the companies that expect to make lots then it can be viewed as 'overhyped'.
Each and every Halo so far has done the business for gamers,Bungie and Microsoft.
Thus Halo has never been 'overhyped'...
I could ask someone "what car do you drive" they reply "a ferrari" and i say "ive got an old ford" - conversation isnt terribile.
I could ask someone "what your best film" they reply "starwars" and i say "i love gone with the wind" - conversation isnt terribile.
I could ask someone "what console do you own" and you can tell before they reply by their face that if they havent got the same consol...

Last night i saw Sam Fisher with Alan Wake and Elvis in my local McDonalds..........
If Sony has never announced HOME until say 6 months before it was a concrete release then people would have been hyped for it and had something to look forward to.
Saying that HOME is going to be free and doesnt really matter when its going to be released is kinda missing the point.
PS3 owners see HOME as a way to combat the 360's newly announced intergrated party system and thus if HOME doesnt get released soon they are going to be left behind even more so.
Can only take so much bs before they get fed up and go with a rival.
If Sony do really want to compete in the online gaming arena then they will have to put alot more effort in and get HOME out before the years end.
Halo3 has a massive stat system on Bungie.net that is scarily in-depth.
It shows you what % of kills you get with each weapon and also shows you the maps in a game and all its hot -spots!
If Killzone2 is anywhere near as good as Halo3's stat tracking then you guys are in for a treat.

I think that by the end of 2009 the 360 will be in the lead ever so slightly over the PS3 (the Wii will still be owning all).
The next year or so will see them neck and neck what with price cuts etc - 2010/2011 and then i think the new consoles will be released.
After this time i would have thought that Sony would overtake MS in sales of the PS3 vs 360 2012+.

What with this Fable2 and Red Alert3 its gonna be one hell of a month.
The more i see of gears2 the more i like it - to all those that say the unreal engine is already maxed out - it might be getting close but seriously is there any graphics on another game (barring crysis) that REALLY looks this good - just scrutinise the video again - it is truly beautiful.
Yer not to sure about this - i thing HOME will have a feature like this though.
Then it occured to me what if,for instance, you have a party of 7 20 year olds and 1 guy who is 15 and one of the older guys wants to share an 18 rated movie for you all to watch (zombie axe death killers).
Would the older guy be breaking laws for showing an 18 rated film to a minor?

Does the guy realise that even in a recession the only entertainment medium that keeps at a healthy profit is the video games one.
Even with high gas prices and food prices soaring gamers are so hardcore that they still but software.
If the industry did move to completely pc based gaming im not sure that would be profitable with the ease of which piracy can be achieved.
If gaming does more towards downloadable games then a mass majority of the plan...

I know you can -as a party - share photos but could you,for instance the following as an 8 man party?:
Share photos,play a few games of big team Halo3,all play that 1 vs 100 game shown at E3 then all watch a movie that one of the party has available....
If this is do able then MS have just moved the goal posts yet again!!
Everything seemed very angular in the graphics department although the gameplay seemed ok ish.
I think Killzone2 will trump this in everyway.

I disagree slightly with what your last post stated - i think that what you prepose is still muddying the waters slightly.
My strong belief is that the single SKU that is released has backwards compatability,enough USB's etc to start with.
Also i believe that next gen all systems should come with a 300ish HDD straight out of the box (for iptv,installing games completely,videos service etc)

Microsoft not allowing third party developers to release their own HDD's for the 360 = fail
The disgusting failure rate (30%) and the RROD fiasco of the 360 = Epic Fail by microsoft
Over in the open zone before MGS4 came out and just after Haze came out the posters were all saying that IGN and Gamespot were pro360 and their review scores didnt mean jack (because Haze was a flop and scored badly)
Then MGS4 gets perfect scores from IGN and Gamespot then these two sites are legit again and the best things since pepperoni pizza - you cant have it both ways..............
In terms of consoles shifted then Wii pwns all.
Software shifted it will be the 360.
As for the BEST games - im liking November with Gears2,Fable2 and Red alert3 all on the 360.
Though Sony do have some nice stuff too.....
